A Heritage Breed

Why Choose Braunvieh?

Braunvieh is not a crossbreed or a new breed developed using two or more breeds. On the contrary, Braunvieh may be the oldest pure breed on earth, with records dating back to 800 B.C. Braunvieh cattle are known for their gentle temperament, adaptability, and exceptional beef quality. At E-den Ranch, our focus on heritage genetics, breeding full blood and high percentage pure bred Braunvieh cattle that ensure each animal thrives on natural pasture.

Our Braunvieh are raised with care, using sustainable practices that prioritize animal welfare and land stewardship.

Braunvieh Advantages

Adaptable & Hardy

Braunvieh are renowned for being extremely adaptable and hardy, thriving in diverse climates from hot tropics to cold mountains due to their Alpine origins, strong constitution, good feet/legs, and efficient metabolism, making them excellent dual-purpose (milk/meat) or beef animals that perform well in extensive or feedlot systems, offering longevity and fertility. Since Braunvieh thrive in diverse climates, making them ideal for Texas ranching.

Gentle Disposition

Easy to handle, making them suitable for family operations and new ranchers. Their dispositions are by far one of the best factors. Centuries of breeding programs utilized their easy going temperament.  In Switzerland, breeders decorate and parade their favorite cows down their main part of town when coming down from the mountain range for winter.

Superior Beef

Braunvieh cattle are known for producing superior beef due to their excellent carcass qualities, including high marbling, large ribeyes, fine-grained muscle, reduced back fat, and efficient feed conversion, allowing them to grade high (Choice or better) with excellent yield grades (1 or 2). They combine maternal strengths with meat quality, offering a balance of muscling, marbling, and productivity that makes them valuable for yielding tender, high-quality beef with great cut ability. Marbled, tender, and flavorful beef that meets premium standards.
